When I trained, years ago, I completed the Open College Network London Level 3 Diploma for Funeral Celebrants, which was rigorous, thorough and well taught.
Celebrancy is still a fairly new and fast-growing area. It's largely unregulated and, frankly, anyone can just set themselves up, say they're a celebrant and end up in a bereaved family's home, talking about their loved one. The Funeral Celebrancy Council, in its own words, "provides a much-needed central organisation, defining best practice, representing funeral celebrants across the UK and setting the standard that all funeral celebrants should meet, ensuring everyone receives a meaningful funeral ceremony."
Raising standards and expectations is a very good idea; I'm happy to adopt their Funeral Celebrants Accord. This "defines the attributes and skills required of an excellent funeral celebrant and is intended to set the standards by which all celebrants offering funeral services should be measured."

A little more information
- I focus on a roughly 30-mile radius of Plymouth.
- Most of my funerals take place in a crematorium, but the freedom for you to choose is growing. I also have experience of natural burial grounds, cemeteries and funeral directors' own chapels, as well as a rural, riverside funeral home and meeting room which hosts one bespoke ceremony a day.
- However much of the ceremony you'd like me to write, you'll always have a copy well in advance so you have plenty of time to read and think about it, then have me change anything you're not sure about.
- If it's what you'd like, I'll give you a bound copy, or copies, of the ceremony script, either for yourself or perhaps for someone who couldn't be there.
